YOU HIDE ME (1970) is now available to stream online here!

 

In the build-up to our webinar event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the film’s release, YOU HIDE ME (1970) is streamable on Vimeo thanks to to the June Givanni Pan African Cinema Archive. In 1970 Ghanaian filmmaker Nii Kwate Owoo gained access to the British Museum to make this short film about the valuable African artefacts held there and make his case for their restitution. June Givanni was a researcher on the project. 2020 is 50 years since that film was made. You can learn more about the film on her website.

 

On Wednesday 7th October, Screen Worlds are delighted to bring you You Hide Me: 50 Years On, a panel discussion focused on the 50th anniversary of the film You Hide Me by Ghanaian filmmaker Nii Kwate Owoo.

The panel will be chaired by filmmaker, writer and Senior Lecturer in Film Studies, University of Winchester, Dr Imruh Bakari, and speakers include: Errol Francis (CEO, Culture& Org), Didi Cheeka (filmmaker, curator and archivist), Awa Konaté (writer, curator, Founder of Culture Art Society, CAS), Dr Polly Savage, (Lecturer in Art History of Africa, SOAS), Prof Kofi Opoku Asare (Institute of African Studies, IAS, University of Ghana), Nii Kwate Owoo (filmmaker – You Hide Me, Founder of Media Research Unit, IAS, University of Ghana).
