FFFA 2022: A Discussion with Amayel Ndiaye, actress and festival organiser

 

This is an interview with Amayel Ndiaye, Head of Communications and part of the festival organisers, as well as actress in one of the feature length films screened in the festival, Mami Watta (Christian Thiam, 2021, Senegal). It was conducted on 4 March 2022 in Dakar during the Festival Films Femmes Afrique 2022, when Dr Estrella Sendra attended as an advisory board member of the ERC-funded research project Screen Worlds: Decolonising Film and Screen Studies (screenworlds.org.uk). It sheds light on the audience-centred curatorial approach in this films, offering free screenings and activities across diverse districts of Dakar, and regions in the country.
